Organizers of this year’s event had to rewrite the script on how they would pull off hosting a film festival in the middle of a pandemic. They came up with a plan that uses a high-tech virtual component, as well as the Tibbs Drive-In Theatre and Conner Prairie Interactive History Park in Fishers serving as film screening locations.
Heartland Film Artistic Director Greg Sorvig discussed the changes in an interview on Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick.
“We have the classic experience, if you will, to watch movies on the big screen. But additionally, we have safe, virtual, secure screenings that you can watch from home and additionally, a lot of films you can watch anywhere in the U.S. or even around the world,” said Sorvig.
The film festival this year is hosting numerous U.S. and world premieres of both narrative films and documentaries.
The Heartland Film Festival runs through October 18th with a variety of panels and Q&A sessions with filmmakers, in addition to the featured films.
