Founded in 1956, United Animal Health Inc. manufactures a variety of feed for swine, dairy and poultry. It now sells products in more than 40 countries.
“I get excited talking about it,” said Joel Spencer, director of customer innovation for United Animal Health. “We’re developing new ideas and bring them through to make animals healthier and to make healthier food.”
Spencer said the company has a division specializing in new novel microbials that can help reduce the use of antibiotics to treat animals.
Research is a pillar of the company’s operations, conducting more than 100 research trials each year, just on swine protocols.
“We really specialize a lot in young animal nutrition. We innovate new technologies with strategic partners that allow us to make nutrition cutting edge and move it forward from what we were doing just yesterday,” Spencer said to Inside INdiana Business Host Gerry Dick, who also hosts the Ag+Bio+Science podcast presented by AgriNovus Indiana.
The weekly podcast includes conversations with leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs in Indiana’s agbioscience sector, discussing the confluence of food, agriculture, science and technology.
