Niederman joined Pathfinder, which serves people with physical, developmental, and economic challenges, in 1985 as its president and chief executive officer. According to officials, he was instrumental in transitioning the organization from a workshop setting for the developmentally disabled into the larger, more expansive community development organization it is today.
In 2014, Niederman was the first recipient honored with the Indiana Association for Community Economic Development (now known as Prosperity Indiana) annual leadership award, which is named in his honor. He was also named the 51st winner of the Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe in 2019.
“On behalf of the board, the 450+ employees, and the more than 4,000 individuals served by Pathfinder Services, I want to express our sincere thanks to John for his exceptional service to this organization,” said Paula Whiting, president of the Board of Directors for Pathfinder Services. “As a result of John’s dedicated leadership, there has been an unprecedented growth of resources and programs at Pathfinder Services. He will truly be missed.”
The Pathfinder Services Board of Directors has created a search committee and hired Bryan Orander, CEO of Charitable Advisors, to launch the nationwide search for a new President and CEO.
The organization aims to have Niederman’s successor in place by the 3rd quarter of 2020.
