Purdue Startup Lands $140K Research Grant

The tuition and fee recommendations will now go to the Executive Committee for a May 31 public hearing

A startup founded by Purdue University assistant professor Carlo Scalo has received a federal grant for $140,000. HySonic Technologies will use the funding to test the structural integrity of high-speed vehicles. 

The grant funds are part of a Phase 1 Small Business Innovation Research grant from the U.S. Navy.

The startup will use the funding to supplement “computational modeling support toward designing long-lasting and sustainable hypersonic vehicles,” according to Scalo.

“We are leveraging years of fundamental research carried out in my research group at Purdue sponsored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.” Scalo said in a news release.
