The Greentown Glass Museum has received a $6,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Howard County, which it will use for new carpet and paint. The Kokomo Tribune reports the renovation will be the museum’s first in 50 years. 

The museum was incorporated in 1969 after the city donated space in the Greentown City Hall to be used for the museum, which displays over 2,000 pieces of Greentown glass, made at the Indiana Tumbler and Goblet Company before the factory burned down in 1903.

The Kokomo Tribune reports that the museum is currently applying for other grants to update electrical work and also lower the 17-foot-high ceiling in order to illuminate the glass displays.

The museum has contracted with a local painter and carpet layer to complete the its current project that they aim to have that completed by the end of January.
