She most recently served as regional vice president and medical director and succeeds Kristen Metzger, who is assuming an expanded role within the organization as president, Medicaid central region. In her new role, Roop will be responsible for all aspects of health plan operations, including strategic planning, provider contracting, member quality and outreach, access and coordination of medical services and plan performance.
She joined Anthem 11 years ago and has held several positions. In her most recent role, Roop worked on a variety of programs designed to improve the quality of care and service to Anthem’s Medicaid members. Prior to joining Anthem, she served as an obstetrician/gynecologist in the Air Force where she assisted in relief efforts following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and worked at a large private obstetrics and gynecology practice in Indianapolis. Roop earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and her MBA from West Virginia University.
