Work to begin on Rapid Industries expansion

The company, which manufactures conveyor systems for the industrial and manufacturing sectors, will Wednesday break ground on a nearly $7 million expansion at its Louisville facility.
One Southern Indiana, the chamber of commerce and economic development organization for Clark and Floyd counties, says the company is adding 50,000 square feet to the facility due to increased demand.
Rapid Industries currently employs more than 100 people in the Louisville metro area. CEO John Thorton tells Inside INdiana Business the company is currently hiring for an additional 25 manufacturing and warehouse positions.
The expansion is expected to be complete in August 2023.
The company was founded in 1967 as Rapid Installations and remains a private, family-owned company.
Officials from Rapid will join representatives from 1si and the city of Louisville for the groundbreaking ceremony, which is scheduled for 11 a.m.
