The company, which produces a variety of pasture-raised egg and butter products, said this week it will construct an egg washing and packing facility on a 72-acre site in Seymour.
Vital Farms declined to disclose its financial investment in the facility, but said it expects to add more than 150 jobs in the project’s first phase.
The facility, to be known as Egg Central Station Seymour, will be the company’s second facility, behind its location in Springfield, Missouri. CEO Russel Diez-Canseco called the move an exciting milestone for Vital Farms.
“We continue to invest in our robust and resilient supply chain to expand our network of family farmers and continue our mission to bring ethical food to the table,” Diez-Canseco said. “We are grateful for the outpouring of support we’ve received from the City of Seymour, Jackson County Industrial Development Corp. and Indiana Economic Development Corp., and we look forward to deepening our relationship and building an even stronger connection to southern Indiana and its surrounding communities in the years ahead.”
Vital Farms said the new facility is expected to help generate over $350 million in additional revenue and support roughly 165 family farmers.
The company plans to break ground in mid-2025, and the facility is expected to be fully operational at the beginning of 2027. Plans for the facility include similar environmental stewardship goals as the Missouri facility, which achieved LEED Gold Certification earlier this year.
