The Indianapolis-based organization provides a host of services to homeless and at-risk veterans and their families, including housing and employment assistance and access to food and clothing. As part of its strategic plan to expand into new key areas of the state, HVAF has launched a two-year pilot program in the Terre Haute area.
HVAF will partner with Indianapolis-based veterans services provider Intecare to provide housing services to veterans and with Terre Haute-based not-for-profit Reach Services to provide a full-time employment specialist. The specialist will provide one-on-one career counseling and help with resume creation, interview prep, financial planning and career placement.
“We are pleased to partner with Intecare and Reach Services to add a much-needed employment component to the services available for veterans in West Central Indiana,” HVAF CEO Emmy Hildebrand said in a news release. “Reach serves nearly 100 veterans annually and our partnership will ensure veterans are better positioned to maintain their permanent housing.”
Helping Veterans And Families partners with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and community organizations to provide comprehensive services for veterans facing homelessness in Indiana, according to its website. In 2023, the organization served 1,349 veterans.
