Subscribe NowFort Wayne-based Vera Bradley Inc. co-founder Pat Miller is retiring from the company’s board of directors, effective August 30. Miller started Vera Bradley. with friend Barbara Bradley Baekgaard in 1982 and has served on the board since then. She was co-president of the company from 1982 to June 2010, when she was appointed national spokesperson for the company and served in the role till October 2012.
She took a leave of absence from the company in 2005-2006 to serve as Secretary of Commerce for the State of Indiana and CEO of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
Miller says “As a co-founder of Vera Bradley, it has been my privilege to serve on the board for the last 37 years. I am extremely proud of the Company’s growth, from an idea between two friends, to the globally recognized Vera Bradley of today. I am confident that Vera Bradley will continue to be successful for many years.”
Miller has also served as director of the Indiana University Foundation and has received numerous awards, including Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Business in 2007 and the Indiana Living Legend Award from the Indiana Historical Society in 2008. The company now has ten remaining board members.
