The brewery says it will invest about $400,000 to acquire and equip the space adjacent to its existing location and create up to 40 full-time and part-time jobs.
Upland says the two spaces will be combined to create a total seating capacity of approximately 150 people. The new space will accommodate patrons of all ages, while the original space will remain 21-and-up.
"Our team in the tasting room, led by Sarah Fackler, has done a fantastic job building community and creating a really remarkable experience for our customers and friends in the neighborhood," Pete Batule, president of Upland Brewing, said in a news release. "We’re thrilled to have the opportunity and are excited to improve the experience on College Ave. with a full menu offering and open café in the morning to support the neighborhood."
The newly-expanded location is set for a grand opening on New Year’s Eve.
Upland opened the Indianapolis location, its first outside of Bloomington, in 2009 and recently completed a renovation of the space. In July, the brewery announced plans to open another location in the Fountain Square neighborhood in Indy in 2019.
