The Dr. Beverly Brockman Study Abroad Award will be given to students enrolled in the Schroeder Family School of Business Administration who wish to study abroad at Harlaxton, the college’s study abroad program in Grantham, England. Financial need is a primary consideration, the university said in a news release.
The gift is from John C. and Diane Schroeder and Richard A. and Patrice Schroeder, the university said. John Schroeder sits on the board of the university and is the president and CEO of Wabash Plastics Inc. Richard is his brother. Businesses owned primarily by the family include Cresline Plastic Pipe Co. Inc., Cresline West Inc. and Cresline Northwest LLC.
The amount of the gift was undisclosed.
The study-abroad award is named after Beverly Brockman, the former dean of the college of business and engineering, who died last year at age 55. “Her vision and tireless efforts played a pivotal role in shaping UE into what it is today—a center of innovation and learning,” the university said.
The private university is home to more than 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
