About 123 upperclassmen will find housing at the new apartment complex, called Lincoln Commons. The development, which is expected to open in August 2024, will also have a first-floor restaurant, a patio and parking lot across the street.
The complex, located at the corner of Weinbach and Lincoln Avenues, will be four stories and will have 55 units with either one, two or three bedrooms. The apartments will have a full kitchen, full-size beds, couches, chairs and desks.
“Today marks a significant milestone in the continued growth and development of the University of Evansville,” University President Christopher Pietruszkiewicz said in a news release. “I look forward to the day when we welcome our students to their new home at Lincoln Commons, and witness firsthand the positive impact it will have on their personal and academic growth.”
The project will cost about $20 million and is covered by tax-exempt bond issuance.
