‘Supercar’ Company to Open Discovery Park Facility

England-based Keating Supercars LLC will Thursday officially dedicate its carmaker space at Purdue University’s Discovery Park District in West Lafayette. The company will use the facility to produce the Viperia Berus coupe, what it calls the fastest street-legal vehicle in the United States.

Keating says the car is able to reach speeds topping 230 miles per hour. The company plans to ultimately produce around 100 of the vehicles per year at Purdue. They are slated to sell for between $180,000 and $250,000 each. The company says it will donate $30,000 for each car sold to support automotive STEM-based education programs.

Keating Supercars founder Anthony Keating and Purdue President Mitch Daniels will be on-hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Keating’s current supercar model, the Bolt, will also be on display at the event.

The company first announced its plans in April. Also that month, Purdue unveiled a master plan for the public-private Discovery Park District, which could include an estimated $1 billion in investment.
