Kassie Woodworth, a 2019 graduate of Herron School of Art and Design, was chosen from over 40 artists who applied for the residency program.
"I feel absolutely grateful for the opportunity to be the Studio Resident Artist with the Stutz Artist Association. Being a recent graduate, I lost access to the large studio spaces I need to create. My sculptures have shrunken into model sculptures, drawings, and ideas—until now,” says Woodworth.
Woodworth is a visual artist, with her areas of expertise including sculpture, printmaking and mixed media. Her work has been exhibited in a number of galleries and public places throughout Indianapolis: the Indianapolis Arts Center, Indiana State House, Indianapolis Arts Garden and Butler University just to name a few.
“Kassie impressed our membership with her enthusiasm, creativity, work ethic and craftsmanship at each point in the rigorous jurying process,” said Jodie Bailey, Stutz Artists Association board member who managed the selection process. “We look forward to her joining the Stutz community of artists.”
And Woodworth is equally looking forward to the opportunity to further her career as an artist through the Stutz Residency Program. “I will be able to make the work that I want to make because of the space I am being provided at the Stutz. I will be able to expand my network, learn from my assigned mentors, and grow as an artist! I am very excited to see what lies ahead."
The Stutz Residency Program is one of the largest cumulative grants for individual artists in the state. Since its inception in 1997, more than 30 emerging artists have reaped the benefits of studio space and mentoring from professional artists at the Stutz.
