The awards, funded by a $250 million grant from Indianapolis-based Lilly Endowment Inc. announced in January, are designed to support strategic planning efforts focused on arts and culture projects.
Projects may include the creation of public art, development and improvement of museums or arts venues, attraction of nationally recognized arts and culture performances, and establishment of arts and culture competitions or festivals.
“The cultural planning and capacity building support grants made possible by READI 2.0 will enable regions to identify a bold and sustainable vision for arts and culture that is built on regional assets and informed by local input,” said Miah Michaelsen, executive director of the Indiana Arts Commission. “These regional arts and cultural roadmaps will support communities across the state as they harness the power of arts and creativity to build a more vibrant Indiana.”
The 15 READI 2.0 regions are eligible to receive planning grants of up to $100,000 each. The money will be awarded as it is applied for, and applications are now being accepted.
The IEDC approved $500 million in grant funding for READI 2.0 in April. Six of the 15 regions received the highest allocation of $45 million each.
