That as the company also names Michael Siemer chief executive officer.
The company uses artificial intelligence and machine learning data analytics to help sort scrap in search of high-quality metal, especially in automobiles.
“We are delivering high quality materials without the tremendous impact that comes with virgin feed stocks. I am excited to lead this experienced team forward which will have a major impact on the circularity of heavy industry,” said Sortera Alloys Chief Executive Officer Michael Siemer.
In November, the company closed on a $10 million round of funding, which is helping it to scale operations.
Sortera operates from a 10-acre facility in Fort Wayne. The company says it has shipping trial truckloads of aluminum feedstock for the past few months from its pilot scale plant.
“We are very proud of what we have accomplished at Sortera to bring circularity to metals markets,” said Nalin Kumar, founder and chief technology officer. “With Michael joining as CEO, I am greatly looking forward to his taking the company to the next level.”
Sortera says its high-purity, recycled feedstock can be used in the automotive, aerospace and consumer packaging industries.
