The company will next week celebrate the production of its 7 millionth sonobuoy since the 1950s.
USSI manufactures the anti-submarine warfare sonobuoy sensors for the U.S. military. In 2018 alone, the company has received nearly $78 million in contracts to produce the sonobuoys.
"USSI is delighted to reach this significant milestone on 7,000,000 sonobuoys produced in Northeast Indiana since the 1950s," said David Jost, president of USSI. "The duration of build over the decades, coupled with the customer demand for this highly sensitive technology, highlights the important and strategic role that USSI plays in our nation’s maritime and underwater security."
The company will host a ceremony September 25 to commemorate the milestone.
