Details of the financial investment in the location are not being disclosed, but the fast-casual chain said more than 75 jobs are being created.
The restaurant is located at 2901 Northwestern Avenue, north of the Purdue University campus.
“We are looking forward to bringing a sense of southern hospitality to the students at Purdue University,” Renee Boiling with Slim Chickens said in a news release. “We plan on staying open until midnight to ensure that students can use the space and enjoy fresh, quality food after a long day.”
Slim Chickens’ menu features chicken tenders and wings, sandwiches, wraps, chicken and waffles, and salads, with over a dozen house sauces.
The company has more than 200 locations across 32 states, as well as the United Kingdom and Kuwait.
The West Lafayette location is being operated by Miami-based Dos Primos Capital Group. Slim Chickens said the group has signed its largest-ever franchise agreement with the goal of opening 71 locations in Indiana, Illinois and Florida.
The West Lafayette restaurant is the first of five locations already announced for Indiana. Slim Chickens last summer detailed plans for other restaurants in Indianapolis, Westfield, Greenwood and Franklin.
A timeline for the opening of the additional locations is not yet known.
When asked how many more locations beyond the five already planned could be added in Indiana, a spokesperson told Inside INdiana Business “as many as the people of Indiana want.”
