The town’s redevelopment commission hopes to see the property transformed into residential and retail space.
The town has issued a Request for Proposals for Acquisition and Redevelopment of Real Estate for the project, in which a developer would purchase and redevelop the property at 22 West Joliet Street.
According to the commission, the redevelopment would be limited to a “new multi-story, mixed-use development” that would feature condominiums, a restaurant with outdoor seating, and a parking plan.
The town is accepting sealed written offers to acquire the property through Nov. 30 at 9 a.m. local time, at which time a public meeting will be held and the offers will be opened and read aloud.
The town would then conduct study sessions to review the proposals, according to our partners at Lakeshore Public Media.
The land is located within the new riverfront district established by the town to help business acquire liquor licenses more easily.
