The company has acquired 1st United Door Technologies, headquartered in Tempe, Arizona, though financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed.
Safe-Way is a manufacturer and distributor of residential, commercial, and industrial overhead garage doors with distribution centers in Tennessee and Missouri. 1st United has seven distribution centers in Arizona, California, Colorado and Utah.
Safe-Way, which employs about 90 people, said the acquisition allows for expansion of its distribution network into key western markets, while also providing 1st United with distribution opportunities to the eastern part of the country.
The combined company will remain headquartered in Warsaw, though Safe-Way said both organizations will continue to operate from their existing manufacturing and distribution centers under their respective brands.
“We are excited about the combined footprint of 1st United and Safe-Way Door because it enhances our national presence and provides faster, easier access to a broader range of products for our customers,” Safe-Way CEO Ted Rock said in a news release.
In a statement to IIB, Rock said 1st United has 68 employees and no jobs will negatively affected by the acquisition. In fact, the company plans to grow and add “incremental positions.”
