Officials say AskRose will expand its evening hours and make Spanish-speaking tutors available during the 2023-23 academic year.
The AskRose Homework Help program offers free math and science tutoring to students in grades six through 12 five nights a week via its website, AskRose.org, and its homework hotline, 877-ASK-ROSE.
Tutors are available from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and now Spanish-speaking tutors will be available once a week from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday nights.
“We’re making AskRose as accessible as possible to help students when they are doing their homework and might need help understanding a challenging math or science problem,” AskRose program supervisor Bernadette Ewen said in a news release. “Our students are well-prepared to lend a helping hand.”
The service is staffed by about 100 faculty-recommended Rose-Hulman students every year. About 20 tutors are available nightly within the program certified by the National Tutoring Association.
The AskRose program is financially support by the Lilly Endowment and Rose-Hulman. Its website offers more than 500 resources, such as videos and downloadable reference materials.
The service has provided more than 750,000 tutoring sessions since it began in 1991, Rose-Hulman said. Tutors will never ask students their last name or phone number.
