The authority says the projects focus on water, roads and energy at the 6,000-acre business park.
In December, the organization said 2021 was its best year in the 23-year history of the business park. More than 70 businesses now operate at the facility, employing more than 11,000 workers.
RRDA Executive Director Jerry Acy says continued investment is needed to attract more businesses.
“The River Ridge Development Authority remains focused on the future and investing in the projects and initiatives that will fuel growth at the Commerce Center for decades to come,” said Acy. “Each of these projects plays an important role in making the River Ridge Commerce Center a great place for businesses to locate.”
The development authority approved the following projects:
- A $531,374 contract with Temple & Temple Excavating & Paving Inc. to construct a 2,470 foot water main.
- An approximate $330,000 contract with Duke Energy to relocate a high-voltage electric transmission pole that conflicts with proposed road improvements.
- A $160,000 contract with Jacobi, Toombs and Lanz, Inc. to plan and design a traffic signal at the intersection of Indiana Highway 62 and Miami Trail, which is a key entry point for the north section of River Ridge.
- A contract not to exceed $109,900 with Strand Associates Inc. for engineering design, survey, geotechnical survey, permitting and bidding services, and construction administration for a proposed new roadway to provide access to the Duke Energy substation between Lentz Avenue and Paul Garrett Avenue.
- A nearly $40,000 contract with American Structurepoint to conduct a strategic planning process for the first phase of an update to River Ridge’s 2018 Strategic Plan, which guides development at the River Ridge Commerce Center.
