The $23 million Annex of Bloomington features two buildings with just over 100 apartment units, as well as ground-floor retail space.
The development, located at the corner of 3rd and Grant streets, features studio, one- and two-bedroom options across both buildings.
Additionally, Cunningham Restaurant Group has opened its latest Bru Burger location on the first level, and a new coffee shop, Coffee Beanery in Bloomington, is set to open soon.
The project was developed by Indianapolis-based The Annex Group, which said the complex is located in an area where working people may struggle to find rental living.
“With a high population of renters and the student population of Indiana University, additional housing was needed in this area,” Joy Skidmore, development consultant for The Annex Group, said in a news release. “To open our doors and show off this community is exciting but filling it with people who want and need a place to call home is even more so.”
Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson will join The Annex Group and other community partners for the ribbon cutting and grand opening event, scheduled for 4 p.m. on Monday.
The Annex Group partnered with Gilliatte General Contractors Inc. in Indianapolis for construction, as well as California-based architecture firm KTGY, and Bloomington-based engineering firm Smith Design Group Inc.
Fort Wayne-based Star Financial Bank also provided $18.1 million in financing for the project.
