A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the previously unused, now renovated facility, which will serve as the nonprofit’s main building.
The health system says it donated the first building to the organization 18 years ago. JACY House, which stands for Justice and Advocacy Center for Youth, provides safe, child-friendly settings to conduct forensic interviews in cases of alleged child abuse.
“We’re so grateful for the amazing things that our new building can offer our staff and the families we serve,” said Amanda Wilson, executive director of JACY House. “Our new family room provides families with comfortable seating, a play area for children, and their own bathroom so they’re secure and their confidentiality is well protected. As this is a trying time for non-offending caregivers and their children, we strive to give them an environment that is warm and friendly to ease some nerves and fears as best we can.”
Reid Health says it provides both buildings to the organization free of utilities charges.
