Indianapolis-based Heartland Film Inc. says the 26th annual Heartland International Film Festival will feature its highest number of films yet. The Academy Award-qualifying event will include $100,000 in cash prizes and recognition of Hollywood legend Rob Reiner, whose movie "LBJ" starring Woody Harrelson will kick off the 11 days of activities October 12th.

That same night, Reiner and Alan Ladd Jr., studio head and producer for well-known titles like "Star Wars," "Alien," "Blade Runner," "Chariots of Fire" and "Young Frankenstein," will receive Heartland Film’s Pioneering Spirit: Lifetime Achievement Award. Reiner’s directorial credits include "This Is Spinal Tap," "Stand by Me," "The Princess Bride," "When Harry Met Sally" and "A Few Good Men."
