The Station has set up shop inside the former Clabber Girl Bake Shop and Museum and is set to open to the community next month.
Chief Operating Officer Jessica Cox told our partners at WTWO-TV the new location provides double the space of its previous location.
The Station aims to serve as a business hub for entrepreneurs and remote workers, as well as chefs with its shared commercial kitchen, according to its website. The new location will also rental event space and meeting rooms for up to 25 people.
The move into the Hulman building is part of a redevelopment of the 130-year-old building by Gibson Development Inc. The developer announced plans in late 2022 to turn the building into West Central Business Hub that will house more than just The Station.
The Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce, Terre Haute Economic Development Corp., Terre Haute Redevelopment Department, the Terre Haute Metropolitan Planning Organization and Western Indiana Workforce Investment Board Inc., all eventually plan to move into the building.
Gibson Development Executive Vice President Brian Kooistra told IIB in December having all of the entities in one location will benefit more than just those organizations.
“The other benefit, and probably more importantly, is for existing businesses within our community and those from outside our community that that are looking to locate in Terre Haute,” Kooistra said. “Having all of those resources under one roof, providing kind of a one one stop shop, we think is really going to streamline and accommodate those people much better.”
The local organizations will occupy the first two floors of the Hulman building, and the remaining floors are still being developed. Plans for those floors haven’t been determined Kooistra said additional office and residential space is on the table.
The Station is currently in a soft launch at the new location for current members and will open to the community on June 1.
