The 213,000-square-foot development will be developed and managed by Gilbane Development Co. based in Providence, Rhode Island.
When complete, it will include 176 apartment units, study areas, a reception area, gaming room, floor lounge, multipurpose room, and a grab-and-go convenience store, among other amenities.
“The dynamics of the Purdue Fort Wayne campus have changed dramatically during the past few years,” Purdue Fort Wayne Chancellor Ron Elsenbaumer said in a news release. “The university is focused on bringing more people to the area to help fill the employee pipeline. Student housing is a necessary component of that strategy.”
Purdue Fort Wayne plans to break ground on the project on Tuesday. Work is expected to be complete in time for the fall 2026 semester.
