The 8,000-square-foot facility, which was first announced in January, will support new majors at the university, including music industry and popular music.
Sweetwater is investing $1.6 million into the facility, which will be reimbursed by Purdue Fort Wayne through a six-year lease. The center will include a recording studio with an adjacent teaching lab, three isolation booths, four editing suites, a student musical collaboration center, equipment library, classrooms, conference rooms and administrative offices. Students and faculty will also receive access to other amenities on the Sweetwater campus, including recording studios, dining facilities, and a health club, among others.
Purdue University President Mitch Daniels will join Purdue Fort Wayne Chancellor Ron Elsenbaumer, Sweetwater President Chuck Surack and others for the dedication ceremony, which is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday.
