Adilov has been serving in the position on an interim basis since July and will now fill the position long-term beginning Jan. 1.
Adilov’s work specializes in space, media and energy economics, among other topics. He has been featured in publications like The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times and The Washington Post.
One of Adilov’s recent projects explored cost reductions related to space vehicles, Purdue Fort Wayne said. He has also studied economic models of space debris.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the school’s growth in my role as dean,” Adilov said in a university news release. “In the near term, the school’s focus will be on strategically aligning its business programs with regional needs, boosting student enrollment and retention, and fostering stronger ties with the community.”
Adilov was selected to the lead the business school following a national search, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Carl Drummond said.
Adilov studied economics, accounting and management as an undergraduate student at Hartwick College and earned his doctorate and master’s in economics from Cornell University. He was given Purdue Fort Wayne’s Outstanding Research Award for the 2022-2023 school year.
“He brings to the position extensive administrative experience, an outstanding record of scholarship, strong interpersonal skills, and a long-standing commitment to student success,” Drummond said of Adilov. “The school could not be in better hands.”
