Admitted Purdue University students now have until at least May 15 to accept their offer and make a deposit, the school announced Wednesday.
Housing deadlines have also been pushed. The housing priority deadline for learning communities and mutually selected roommates is now May 5, and the overall housing deadline is May 19.
“In extending the decision deadline, the university aims to provide students and families with additional time to review all of their options so they can make the most informed decision for their future,” Cherise Hall, vice provost for enrollment management, said in a news release.
The U.S. Department of Education announced colleges won’t receive applicants’ FAFSA information until March at the earliest.
The FAFSA was refreshed this year to make it easier and reduce barriers for students eligible for aid. However, the form’s rocky rollout has been reported as strenuous on families and difficult for universities since financial aid decisions have been postponed.
