The university said the move will reorganize the school from two departments to nine.
Purdue first detailed plans for the new business school in September 2022, which included doubling the size of the current Krannert Building.
Construction on the $168 million expansion, which will bring the building to 164,000 square feet, began last September after receiving board approval the previous month.
Previously, the business school had just two departments: economics and management. With the board’s approval on Friday, the school will move to a nine-department structure.
Those departments are accounting, economics, finance, management information systems, marketing, organizational behavior and human resource management, quantitative methods, supply chain and operations management, and strategic management.
“This new structure will enable departments to respond to the evolving needs of our students, faculty and industry partnerships,” Jim Bullard, the inaugural Dr. Samuel R. Allen dean of the Daniels School, said in a news release. “It will also assist in attracting top-tier faculty and in the engagement of development activities.”
The restructuring will take effect on July 1, 2025.
Bullard also gave a presentation to the board, noting that new-beginner enrollment at the school has grown by more than 150% over the past six years, with applications rising 13% in the last year alone.
