Purdue says, paired with a continued tuition freeze, the total cost of attending the school will be less in 2019 than it was in 2012.
Room and board will also remain flat at Purdue University Northwest-Hammond for the third straight year. The school says room rates at Purdue University Fort Wayne will reflect market prices, but will see an overall 3 percent decrease in the average room rate. Purdue’s board of trustees approved the rates Friday.
"We are continuing our commitment to making a Purdue education obtainable and affordable for students and families," said Purdue President Mitch Daniels said. "To get the most out of the university experience, we want to make it an attainable option for students to live on campus, where they can take full advantage of the academic and social benefits a university campus has to offer."
Purdue says, depending on the type of campus housing students select, the price per year for room only will range from $2,446 to $9,500. Students living in West Lafayette campus residence halls are required to carry a meal plan, which ranges from $2,998 to $5,398 for the academic year.
In May, Purdue trustees gave final approval to a two-year tuition freeze on the West Lafayette campus, covering the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 academic years.
