With more than 20 years of experience in the trade, she launched her own food safety consultancy, Safe Food En Route.
On this week’s episode of the Ag+Bio+Science podcast, AgriNovus Indiana Chief Executive Officer Mitch Frazier talks to Crandall about food safety, the supply chain and the ever-changing face of government oversight of the food sector.
Armed with a degree in food science from Purdue University, Crandall spent the next two decades in the food industry. She worked for eight years in dairy manufacturing and 12 years with Kroger corporate offices. With Kroger, Crandall was heavily involved in ensuring suppliers to Kroger-owned manufacturers were in compliance with food safety regulations.
“Kroger laid a huge foundation, and I give a lot of credit of my career and knowledge to what I had learned while I was there,” said Crandall. “I spent mostly the whole time around private label manufacturing. I was supporting them from the ingredient raw material side.”
Crandall used her learned expertise and knowledge to help develop software to improve audits of ingredients and food products.
