Parker, a 2023 graduate of Tri-West Hendricks High School, was selected as the Distinguished Young Woman of Indiana. The Distinguished Young Women program is aimed to empower girls, develop self-confidence and prepare them for success after high school through providing opportunities and scholarships.
She will travel to Mobile, Alabama on June 14 to prepare and compete in the competition consisting of five stages: scholastics, interview, fitness, talent and self-expression. During her two-week stay, Parker will take part in team-building activities, community service, community outreach, related events and rehearsals.
The finals will take place June 22-24.
If Parker is the Distinguished Young Woman of America for 2023, she will spend the next year representing the organization at events and promoting the “Be Your Best Self” outreach program. The initiative looks to lower rates of childhood obesity and high school drop out rates and encourage community service.
