The Star Press reports proceeds from the 46,862-square-foot facility will be allocated to the Ball State University Foundation.
"After various alternatives were considered and discussions were held with donors, a decision was made to accept the property as a gift and sell it," Ball State spokesperson Kathy Wolf told the publication. Wolf also said the university is grateful to Jim and Jill Davis for the donation.
The starting bid for Garfield’s former home is $300,000, with an online auction running from June 24-26.
Paws employees have moved out of the facility, but the company is still in business. At the beginning of this year, Indiana Public radio reported that that employees of the company are transitioning to a work-from-home model.
Memorabilia from the headquarters will benefit local charities, collectors and national organizations.
