Foam Solutions LLC said this week that it plans to retain much of the building’s former workforce and continue to serve the same customers with the same suppliers as it begins operations later this month.
The 120,000-square-foot building at 3225 Warehouse Road was previously occupied by Hickory Springs Manufacturing Co. before the company closed the facility. Foam Solutions founder Dana Collins said in a news release that the time was right to keep the operation going.
“When a well-established foam fabricator decided to leave the Owensboro market, my husband and I realized that we had an opportunity to continue the work I am passionate about, alongside a team that has taught me valuable lessons in leadership and a customer base that I’ve been honored to serve,” Collins said. “This opportunity allows us to make a positive impact on a community that we care deeply about.”
Foam Solutions will manufacture custom foam products and upholstery supplies to customers in southern Indiana, northern Tennessee, and Cincinnati.
Details of the company’s financial investment in the facility are not being disclosed. The Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corp. said the company will employ up to 20 former workers from the previous operation.
“From the moment Dana visited GOEDC for support, we knew this was an impactful project for our community. She is an entrepreneur with a service leader mindset,” GOEDC President and CEO Claude Bacon said in the release. “Through Foam Solutions, Dana is saving a large percentage of jobs that would have otherwise been lost.”
Collins told Inside INdiana Business that she aims to grow the company and “utilize the local talents in our community.”
Foam Solutions will operate Monday through Friday and said it aims to deliver consistent, high-quality foam products to furniture manufacturers and other industries.
