Nursing organization CEO to retire, new leader named

Subscribe NowMary Browning, CEO of the Indiana Organization for Nursing Leaders (IONL), has announced her retirement effective this month. The organization also announced Thursday that Cathy Wichman will succeed Browning when she steps down.
Browning has served as IONL’s chief since 2014, and previously held numerous roles at Community Health Network in Indianapolis.
“It has been the honor of my career to work with IONL and advocate on behalf of Hoosier nurses,” said Browning. “Cathy is a natural leader and brings proven nursing experience to the role as CEO. I look forward to seeing everything she and the IONL team accomplish together.”
Wichman brings 19 years of experience in the medical field, most recently serving as Decatur County Memorial Hospital’s Chief Nursing Officer. Wichman has served on IONL’s Board of Directors for 10 years as well.
Wichman holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Southern Indiana and an associate degree in nursing from Ivy Tech Community College.
IONL is a state organization of nurses who design, facilitate and manage care as well as serving the needs of individual members.
