OCRA says the addition is due to the efforts of North Salem Revitalization Inc., a group of community members and local businesses leaders aiming to revitalize the downtown area of the Hendricks County town.
The organization says it’s mission is to design and provide a foundation that will encourage other members of the community to help promote economic development while preserving the town’s local traditions and character.
"While we are a small town, we are blessed to have 20 team members that are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and take on the tasks we need to do," said Bill Compton, president of North Salem Revitalization Inc. "We have been able to achieve acceptance into the Indiana Main Street program in less than a year and a half. That is what dedication will do for you!"
The Indiana Main Street Program encourages economic development, redevelopment and improvement to the downtown areas of cities and towns throughout the state. You can learn more about the program by clicking here.
