The partners said the facility will serve as a regional destination for orthopedic surgery and care.
The 23,000-square-foot center includes four operating rooms, one procedure room, and 20 pre- and post-operative recovery bays.
Beacon said the facility has the capacity to add two additional operating rooms, one procedure room and up to 10 patient bays in the future.
“Orthopedic surgeries are increasingly shifting away from hospital inpatient settings to outpatient ambulatory surgery centers, where highly skilled orthopedic specialists and support teams diagnose and treat injuries, conditions and disorders using the most advanced instrumentation and technology,” Dr. John A. Huchko, medical director for The Surgery Center of Granger, said in a news release. “Our facility will advance high-quality and high-value care by enhancing access and affordability while improving the health of our communities.”
A spokesperson for Beacon Health could not provide an exact number of new jobs associated with the facility, but told IIB the partners have a total of 30 orthopedic surgeons that will be caring for patients.
The Surgery Center of Granger is located just off the Indiana Toll Road at Beacon Parkway and Capital Avenue near the Beacon Granger Hospital.
Officials broke ground on the facility in October 21. South Bend-based Panzica Building Corp. served as project manager for the building’s construction.
