Our partners at The Herald Bulletin report Uranus Fudge Factory and General Store has taken control of the former Good’s Candy Shop after acquiring the business in September.
Former owner Randy Good announced plans to sell the business in May, just days after posting a controversial help wanted ad on Facebook regarding the type of people he did not want to apply for the job. However, he said his decision to sell the company was not a result of the post, according to the publication.
Louie Keen, mayor of Uranus Fudge Factory and General Store, said in a YouTube video last week the store will reopen soon, with a soft opening planned for February 1 and grand opening set for April 1.
“We’ll get open as soon as we can because I know everyone wants to get their fudge back,” said Keen. “We know that everybody has depended on Good’s for years for all their Valentine’s Day (candy).”
The Herald Bulletin reports Keen has offered jobs to all current employees at Good’s and is also looking to add jobs, including retail staff, warehouse staff, a bookkeeper, marketing specialist, and graphic designers.
Keen says he hopes to add Uranus Liquors, which based out of the company’s Missouri location, to the Anderson shop within the next two years.
