The most recent, Pond ‘Lil Nature Preserve, is in LaGrange County and includes nearly 95 acres. It is located within Dallas Lake County Park and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources describes it as "more pond than bog," but says over the course of perhaps hundreds of years, the floating mat of sphagnum moss and other vegetation could grow more toward the center.
The preserve includes swampland, upland woods, prairie restoration space, an ADA-accessible trail around the pond and other trails running through the northern part of the acreage. The land is owned by LaGrange County Board of Parks and Recreation and county commissioners.
