Off the Rails LLC has selected a location along State Road 64 to open Rails and Ales Brew House, a concept paying homage to the railroad tracks that run through the town’s historic downtown.
“We can’t wait to bring this microbrewery and restaurant to Georgetown,” Rails and Ales Brew House Co-owner Justin Juhasz said in a news release. “Our hope is to create an atmosphere new to the Georgetown area and showcase our beautiful town by having a dining option close to the Georgetown Park.”
The two-story microbrewery will serve craft beers and wine from its two bars and will also feature a self-service restaurant and drive-through for food orders.
Off the Rails expects to invest $1 million in building improvements and equipment and plans to hire eight full-time individuals. The town of Georgetown has offered personal and real property tax abatements, which will phase in taxes for the brewery over a period of four and six years respectively.
Town Council President Chris Loop said the town’s redevelopment plan calls for a business like Rail and Ales Bew House and the abatements send a message that Georgetown is open for business.
John Launius, vice president and director of economic development for One Southern Indiana, said in the release that the southern Indiana economic development organization has taken note of Georgetown’s growth in recent years.
“Off the Rails LLC is bringing an exciting new opportunity for residents of Georgetown with Rails and Ales Brew House, and we will continue to partner with them to position them for long-term success in the region,” Launius said.
