The Indiana Gaming Commission approved a temporary license for Atlanta-based PrizePicks, which bills itself as the largest fantasy sports (DFS) provider in North America. The approval will allow the business to operate its daily fantasy sports operation in the state.
“Adding Indiana as a licensed state to our portfolio is an important benchmark for our organization as we continue to grow our national footprint,” said Jason Barclay, PrizePicks chief legal officer and head of public policy.
The company has previously announced partnerships with NASCAR, the BIG3 basketball league and the Atlanta Braves.
“As an author of the fantasy sports legislation in Indiana, I’m happy to see Indiana continue to be a leader in creating a successful regulatory environment for fostering innovation in the fantasy sports space,” said Indiana Sen. Jon Ford, R-Terre Haute.
Ford is president of the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States and has authored numerous pieces of sports betting legislation. Gov. Eric Holcomb signed a bill regulating and legalizing DFS sites in Indiana into law in 2016.
Other daily fantasy sports providers in Indiana, according to PlayIndiana.com, include DraftKings, FanDuel, Fliff Sportsbook and Jock MKT.
