Jeff Rayis begins his new role July 8, replacing Nancy Shoonmaker, who stepped down to become CFO of Our Daily Bread Ministries in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Since 2017, Rayis has served as the assistant vice president of treasury and finance at Michigan State University, where he helped lead efforts on financial initiatives and municipal bond issuance, according to a news release and his LinkedIn profile. Prior to MSU, he worked at Ohio State University for five years as director of treasury and debt.
Indiana Wesleyan President Jon Kulaga said he is eager to get started with Rayis.
“The university is currently growing, and our strong fiscal position is a good fit for the deep experience, opportunities, and innovation Jeff Rayis brings to the table,” Kulaga said in the release.
Rayis is an experienced presenter on topics such as emerging financial technology, treasury and financial sales strategies, wealth planning, stock ownership and budgeting, the university said. Before working in higher education he held a number of roles for Bank One and J.P. MorganChase during a nearly three-decade career in the banking industry.
“I am excited to be joining a university with the mission, ministry, and positive momentum of Indiana Wesleyan University,” Rayis said. “I look forward to collaborating with IWU’s leadership, faculty, staff, and students as we strive to uphold the university’s values, innovate with excellence, and make a meaningful faith-based impact both locally and globally.”
Indiana Wesleyan University, based in Marion, serves more than 14,000 students.
