As a result, the chamber now has oversight of the Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance.
The reorganization was approved by both boards. The chamber said in a news release that the move allows for streamlined governance, additional accountability, and greater synergy and efficiencies related to the area’s economic development efforts.
“The realignment of economic development to be paired with Chamber resources is an exciting evolutionary step for our Chamber transformation,” Stephe Brand, chairman of the chamber, said in a news release. “This partnership is an important step for modernizing our economic development and providing the best service to our existing and future businesses.”
DAC Chairman Rob Keisling added that the reorganization combines the strengths and expertise of the chamber and the Economic Development Alliance “leading to more effective strategies and greater innovation through enhanced collaboration.”
The Delaware Advancement Corp. previously oversaw the Economic Development Alliance, as well as the Horizon Convention Center in downtown Muncie.
The organization said it will retain oversight of the convention center, which will be governed by a streamlined board of stakeholders “dedicated to the growth of travel and tourism in Delaware County.”
