The $300,000 in work from MKM architecture + design Inc. involves designing a new reception area for the downtown hospital. Within the last year, St. Joseph has also completed multi-million dollar improvement projects in its catheterization laboratory, diagnostic procedural services area and surgical department.
MKM says the reception renovations "centralized registration, improved privacy and increased security."
The cath lab and diagnostic area wrapped up in August. The $2.1 million effort involved nearly 2,000 square-feet of space and centers around improved technology for cardiovascular doctors and patients. The hospital says its goal was to "encourage a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere to support the healing of patients and their families."
The $5.9 million renovation of the 20,000 square-foot operating facilities finished in October 2014 ahead of schedule. It included expanding and updating OR suites, pre- and post-operative areas, remodeling nursing stations and improving surgical equipment.
St. Joseph Hospital includes more than 190 beds.
