The Kokomo Tribune reports the organization still needs to raise $700,000 for the $16.7 million building, ground for which was broken in August 2020.
The building will not only house the YMCA facility, but also a 10,000 square clinic operated by Logansport Memorial Hospital that will include primary and specialty care services.
The 65,000-square-foot YMCA facility will feature an indoor pool, an elevated track overlooking a wellness center, as well as a gymnasium for basketball, volleyball and pickleball, among other amenities, according to the publication.
The Tribune reports when the project was first announced four years ago, the original cost was $12.4 million but that number rose as construction costs increased. Several donors have committed an additional $250,000 in matching funds for donations made before the end of the year.
Logansport Memorial Hospital is covering the construction costs for its space and plans to share the operational costs of the building with the YMCA through a long-term lease.
