The company restated its commitment to transition over 300 jobs from Calumet City, Illinois, to the new location. An additional 50 jobs are expected to be created for the new facility.
The new headquarters has 80,000 square feet of operational space, office space, a test kitchen, backup freezers and a 4,000-square-foot dry-aging room, one of the largest in the country.
“Our growth and success since my grandfather opened a neighborhood butcher shop 60 years ago stems directly from the dedication and unwavering spirit of every member of our team,” CEO Frederick Linz said in a news release. “Along with our world-class ranching operations, this grand opening reflects our exciting growth within the industry, and we’re honored to share this milestone with the Hammond community, our team, our partners, and our supporters.”
Meats by Linz took over the abandoned Queen Anne Candy Company site. The company purchased the land for $622,000 in 2022. The sale included annual 20% mortgage forgiveness over five years.
With national and international steakhouses as clients, the company hopes to continue providing its customers with prime beef from its newly launched location.
“Having an internationally known company like Meats by Linz relocate its global headquarters to Hammond is a huge economic development victory for our city,” Tom McDermott, Hammond’s Mayor said. “The $52 million investment, construction of the 120,000 square foot facility, and over 300 jobs are a testament to the hard work and partnership of my administration with the leadership of Meats by Linz.”
Construction of the headquarters was overseen by Alston Construction, 219 Development Services, Bauer Construction Services, and financed through Wintrust Bank and designed by Rieke Interiors.
