The South Bend Tribune reports the mixed-use office, retail and apartment building by developer David Matthews will be constructed at the intersection of LaSalle Avenue and Sycamore Street.
The publication reports the construction has been delayed several times after plans were revamped for an Indiana Michigan Power substation. Contractor F. A. Wilhelm Construction and architect 5 G Studio now plan a building with a smaller footprint. The $42 million project is expected to receive $5 million in TIF from the city, and nearly $5 million from Regional Cities, pending substantial completion by April 2020.
The Tribune reports the 440,000 square foot building will include two levels of below ground parking, three above-ground parking floors, and six floors of 1,2, and 3 bedroom apartments. The entire first floor is dedicated to house a grocery store. Matthews expects completion by Spring 2020.
